Green Bananas Drop-In Art Care!
 
Green Bananas Drop-In Art Care is an up-to-four-hour option for parents who also care about art and need to run some errands, attend a meeting, clean the house, or simply send the kiddos to a fun, safe, art-filled environment! 
We are not a daycare; however, we are a place that cares about art (hence the name "Art Care") where kids can experience art through a variety of media including movement, modeling, paper, chalk, felt, and the likes under the gentle guidance of our amazing staff.  Through art, kids gain self confidence, increase hand-eye coordination, and improve fine and gross motor skills.  Each of the 52 weeks of the year, we feature an important artist, classic fairy tale or world folk tale as the creative inspiration for our main art project.  A sample of the featured artist's work will be displayed and information about the artist or a reading of the tale will happen during project time.   Green Bananas kids will leave each art session with a creation suitable for displaying or framing, or perhaps giving as a gift to a favorite relative or friend.  Our environment is very structured and calm, just the right combination for the young child, and we pride ourselves on helping even the most rambunctious of young children settle into a mind space for artist ventures. The daily schedule includes an introduction to art through a variety of media to get little hands ready for artistic expression at one of our art stations.  Kids can make cards, paint in watercolor, or model with clay.  Next, we transition into movement as a form of art and as a way to develop gross motor skills while getting the wiggles out before the main art project of the day begins.  An outline of the daily schedule can be seen below.

Our staff members are trained in first aid and CPR; in fact, we have several licensed healthcare providers on staff! We also conduct criminal background checks on all employees, and run a drug-free facility.  As with our toy store, Green Bananas is committed to environmental sustainability, chemical and pollutant-free materials and snacks, and the basic tenet that the young child lives in an overstimulating world so we'd like to simplify things while they are guests in our facility.  There are no televisions, computers, or other video games, etc., in the child art area.  

THE BASICS:

1. Ages 2.5-5.99 are welcome
2. Potty training not required - bring change of clothes, diaper if needed
3. Maximum time your child can engage with us is FOUR (4) hours per Washington State RCW 43.215.010.  You are welcome to stay on the premises or leave your child for art and movement instruction with us!
4. Prices are $9.50/hour for the first child, $6.50/hour each additional child
5. Green Bananas Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. (2 hour minimum / 4 hour maximum per day) Located at 7104 Greenwood Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98103
